About the Nutraceutical range

The Nutraceutical range is dietary supplements: vitamins and minerals, collagen and protein preparations, and specialist formulations. They come in several formats — sachets and powders to mix, capsules and tablets, and ready-to-drink vials — and the format is largely a matter of convenience and how you prefer to take something.

Reading a supplement label

• Compare the amount per serving, not per pack, and note how many servings a day the label assumes. Two products with the same headline number can differ once you check the serving.
• Note the serving size itself — one sachet, two capsules, a full vial — because it is what the amount per serving refers to.
• Check the storage line. Some preparations need refrigeration once opened, and drinkable formats usually have a short window after opening.
• More is not better. Several nutrients have an upper level above which there is no benefit and some risk, and it is easy to exceed by taking two products that overlap.

This matters more here than anywhere else on the site: supplements can interact with prescribed medicines, and some are not suitable during pregnancy, while breastfeeding, before surgery, or with particular conditions. They are also not a substitute for a treatment you have been prescribed.
